3 Delivery, Storage and Standstill Period
3.1 Delivery
The engine is delivered in a wooden box and is preserved for a distinct time. For details about
preservation refer to shipping documents (e.g. engine log).
The preservation is only guaranteed if the yellow protective bag, in which the engine is
wrapped up, is not damaged or broken.
3.2 Storage up to 6 months
This procedure is only applicable for an engine, which is installed.
Perform an engine oil and filter change according to Maintenance Manual E4.08.04
Add a volatile corrosion inhibitor (VCI) lubricating liquid as a concentrate (e.g. FUCHS
ANTICORIT VCI UNI O 40) to the engine oil.
Refer to the product data sheet for the determination of the appropriate quantity. The
volume, which needs to be protected, is 10 litres or 0.01 cubic metres.
Check coolant level – if necessary correct the coolant level.
Ground run:
- Warm up the engine according to chapter 4.1.2 and chapter 4.1.3
- 100% load until 100 °C (212 °F) oil temperature.
- 1 minute 100% load.
- 1 minute idle power.
- Shut down.
Relieve V-belt tension – refer to Maintenance Manual E4.08.04 performing steps 1 and 2 of the
relevant chapter
Close engine openings airproof.
The engine must not be started after V-belt tension relieve.
3.3 Storage over 6 months
Contact engine manufacturer Austro Engine GmbH.
3.4 Engine depreservation
Remove all covers from engine openings
Install V-belt – refer to Maintenance Manual E4.08.04
Perform an engine ground run according to chapter 3.2
