3.5 Standstill Period
If the engine is installed already and it is not intended to operate the engine for a longer time, the
following is required:
Above -30°C:
Maximum allowed standstill period: 4 weeks
The following procedure has to be performed:
Engine Start and Warm Up according to chapter 4.1.2 and chapter 4.1.3.
100% load until 100 ºC (212 ºF) oil temperature.
1 minute 100% load.
1 minute idle power.
Shut down.
Between -30°C and -53°C:
Maximum allowed standstill period: 2 weeks
The following procedure has to be performed:
In case of prolonged temperatures below -38°C change water / radiator protection mixture ratio
to 40:60.
Warm up engine compartment without engine running till oil, gearbox and coolant temperature
indicates temperatures above -30°C.
The V-belt and sealing rings may suffer serious damage when operating the engine without
prior warm up.
Engine Start and Warm Up according to chapter 4.1.2 and chapter 4.1.3.
Non-compliance with chapter 2.5.6.3 is acceptable during ground run only.
Run engine for approx. 30 min. at engine fluid temperatures within normal range.
1 minute 100% load.
1 minute idle power.
Shut down.
