ofactivityinthescene.Themoreactivity,themorebandwidthyouneed.Withvariablebitrateyouare
guaranteedconstantimagequality,butyouneedtomakesureyouhavestoragemargins.
Maximumbitrate(MBR)Maximumbitrateletsyousetatargetbitratetohandlebitratelimitationsinyour
system.Youmightseeadeclineinimagequalityorframerateastheinstantaneousbitrateiskept
belowthespecifiedtargetbitrate.Youcanchoosetoprioritizeeitherimagequalityorframerate.We
recommendthatyouconfigurethetargetbitratetoahighervaluethantheexpectedbitrate.Thisgives
youamarginincasethereisahighlevelofactivityinthescene.

availablestorage.Bitrateishigherinsceneswithalotofactivity,comparedtostaticscenes.Youare
morelikelytogetbetterimagequalitywheninsceneswithalotofactivityifyouusetheaveragebitrate
option.Youcandefinethetotalstoragerequiredtostorethevideostreamforaspecifiedamountoftime
(retentiontime)whenimagequalityisadjustedtomeetthespecifiedtargetbitrate.Specifytheaverage
bitratesettingsinoneofthefollowingways:
•Tocalculatetheestimatedstorageneed,setthetargetbitrateandtheretentiontime.
•Tocalculatetheaveragebitrate,basedonavailablestorageandrequiredretentiontime,use
thetargetbitratecalculator.
