TheMINI-ARRAYcontrollerisaversatilemicrocontroller-basedmodulethatmaybe
configuredusingaPC-compatiblecomputerrunningWindows
®
XP, Vista, or 7
andtheBanner-suppliedsoftwareviathebuilt-inRS-232orRS-485interface.The
BannerMINI-ARRAYSystemcanbeprogrammedforanyoneortwoofthefollowing
ScanAnalysisModes(seeFigure5-13forexamples):
All Data (ALL):Thecontrollerpassesallbeamconditiondataforeveryscantothe
serialinterfaceforanalysisbyahostcomputerorcontroller.
First Beam Blocked (FBB):Thecontrolleridentifiesthelocationofthefirstbeam
blocked.Beamsarenumbered,beginningwiththecabledendofthesensor,and
continuinginsequencetothetopendofthesensor.
Last Beam Blocked (LBB):Thecontrolleridentifiesthelocationofthelastbeam
blocked.
Total Beams Blocked (TBB):Thecontrollertotalsthenumberofblockedbeams.
Contiguous Beams Blocked (CBB):Thecontrollertotalsthenumberofcontiguous
beamsblockedineachgroupofblockedbeamsalongthelengthofthelightscreenand
registersthemaximumvalue.
First Beam Made (FBM):Thecontrolleridentifiesthelocationofthefirstclearbeam.
Last Beam Made (LBM):Thecontrolleridentifiesthelocationofthelastclearbeam.
Total Beams Made (TBM):Thecontrollertotalsthenumberofclearbeams.
Contiguous Beams Made (CBM):Thecontrollertotalsthenumberofcontiguous
clearbeamsineachgroupofclearbeamsalongthelengthofthelightscreenand
registersthemaximumvalue.
Vehicle Separation (VHS)(discreteoutputmodelsonly):Controlleroutput#1is
energizedwhensixormorecontinuousinchesoflightscreenlengthareblocked(i.e.,
contiguousbeamsblocked),andde-energizeswhenallbeamsareclear.Thismodeis
typicallyusedforvehiclesensingintollboothapplications.
Segment (SEG) (controllermodelsMAC16N-1andMAC16P-1only):Thecontroller
segmentsthearrayintoregionsandallowstheusertopartitionthearray.Theuser
definescontiguoussegments.Oncethesegmentsaredefined,theControllermonitors
eachsegmentforblockedbeamswithineachsegment.Ifoneormorebeamsare
blockedwithinanysegment,theoutputcorrespondingtothatsegmentwillrespond.
Transition (TRN) (controllermodelsMAC16N-1andMAC16P-1only):Thecontroller
countstransitions,whichareusedtocountobjects.Thismodecountsbothclear-to-
blockedandblocked-to-cleartransitions.Forexample,ifanobjectblocksbeams20
through30,theTRNmodewillcounttwotransitions.Ifanadditionalobjectblocks
beams35through40,thentheTRNmodewillcountfourtransitions.
