The BenQ QS02 is an HDMI Media Streaming dongle designed to enhance the functionality of projectors and displays by providing Android TV capabilities and wireless projection features. It can be bundled with a BenQ projector or purchased separately, with package contents and connection procedures varying based on how it's acquired.
Function Description:
The QS02 dongle transforms a display into a smart TV by offering access to the Android TV home screen, including personalized recommendations, installed apps, and Google Play. It supports wireless projection from various devices, including iOS/macOS, Android (via Chromecast built-in™), and PCs (via Chromecast built-in). Additionally, the dongle can function as a USB reader, allowing users to play files directly from a USB flash drive when connected to a display without a PC.

Usage Features:
The QS02 dongle is designed for ease of use and versatility.
- Installation and Power: It connects to a display via a mini HDMI port (an HDMI adapter may be required) and receives power through a micro USB port, typically from the projector's USB port or a standard adapter head using the supplied USB splitter cable. For standalone use as a USB reader, a 5V/1.5A power outlet is recommended.
- Initial Setup: Upon proper installation and power-up, users follow on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup, which includes connecting to a wireless network and signing in with a Google Account.
- Remote Control (C008 model): The QS02 comes with a dedicated remote control (Model C008) that offers comprehensive control over the dongle and, optionally, the connected projector.
- Buttons: Includes Power, Google Assistant, Watchlist, Arrow keys, OK, Back, Home, Volume up/down, Mute, YouTube, Prime Video, Input, Settings, Open Live TV EPG, Channel up/down, Netflix, and Disney+.
- Google Assistant: A dedicated button allows voice control via Google Assistant.
- IR Learning Keys: Certain keys (Power, Volume up/down, Mute, Input) can be programmed to send IR signals to control the projector, enhancing product compatibility and allowing a single remote to manage both devices.
- Pairing: The remote pairs via Bluetooth. Pairing is enabled by pressing and holding the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds. An LED indicator on the remote provides status feedback (solid green for pairing enabled, flashing green for waiting, solid/flashing green for Google Assistant use, flashing red for IR signal transmission).
- Effective Range: The remote operates within an effective angle of 30 degrees and a range of approximately 8 meters (~26 feet).
- Android TV Home Screen: Provides a centralized interface for accessing apps, content recommendations, notifications, and system settings.
- Wireless Projection:
- iOS/macOS: Utilizes the "Wireless Projection for iOS" app on the Android TV home screen. Users enable screen mirroring on their iOS/macOS device and select "QS02" from the device list.
- Android (Chromecast built-in™): Connects the Android device to the same wireless network as the dongle and enables the screen mirroring function (e.g., "Smart View") to cast to "QS02."
- PC (Chromecast built-in): Connects the PC to the same wireless network and uses the "cast" function (e.g., from Chrome browser) to project to "QS02."
- USB Reader Functionality: By connecting a USB flash drive to the USB type-A female connector (via the USB splitter cable) and switching the input source to USB storage, users can play media files directly from the drive.
Maintenance Features:
- Firmware Updates: The dongle supports Over-the-Air (OTA) updates to ensure it runs the latest firmware. Users are notified when an update is available or can manually check for updates via the Android TV home screen:
Settings > Device preferences > About > System update. Stable power supply to the host and dongle is crucial during updates.
- Factory Reset: The QS02 can be restored to its factory default settings, which erases all account information, installed apps, and preference settings. This is done through
Settings > Device preferences > About > Factory reset on the Android TV home screen.
