Maintenance Procedures
Replacing the Impeller
Note:All figures found in Replacing the Impeller display
the TKV vacuum model. See the Illustrated Parts Book for
detailed part information.
1. Shut down the unit, wait for the impeller to stop, allow the
engine to cool, and disconnect the spark plug wire.
2. Drain the oil and fuel from the engine. Disconnect the
throttle cable from the engine.
3. Uninstall the debris bag and quick disconnect scoop.
Reverse the steps 2-5 found in the Install the Debris Bag
and Final Setup section to uninstall the bag and quick
disconnect scoop.
4. Uninstall the upper handle assembly. Reverse the steps
found in the section Assemble the Handles.
Note:Be careful to not kink, stretch, or break any cables,
cable housings, or cable fittings when removing the upper
handle assembly.
5. Self-Propelled Units Only Remove the transmission
cover (A, Figure 12). Loosen and remove the bolts (B)
and washers (C) that secure the transmission cover, and
then remove the cover.

6. Self-Propelled Units Only Uninstall the back wheel
assembly. Loosen and remove the nut (B, Figure 13)
securing the back wheel (A). Remove the wheel and
chain (C). Loosen and remove the bolts (D) securing the
chain bracket (E). Repeat on opposite side to remove
both back wheels, chains, chain bracket bolts. Loosen
and remove the bolts (F) that secure the chain bracket to
the transmission plate. Repeat procedure on the opposite
side.

7. Self-Propelled Units Only Uninstall the transmission
assembly (A, Figure 14). Carefully remove the belt from
the transmission pulley. Lift the entire transmission
assembly up and away from the frame.
