4 Control and monitoring functions
4.1 Control functions
The CM-SW-01 compressor control module automatic-
ally controls the adjustment of the internal volume ratio
(V

) and the infinite capacity control.
Capacity control
The module infinitely adjusts the compressor capacity
according to the nominal value of the superior system
controller. This is done by switching the two solenoid
valves CR+ and CR- of the capacity control slider.

The module automatically sets the most suitable V

each case. To this end, it evaluates the slider position
and the current operating conditions by means of integ-
rated algorithms.
Unloaded compressor start
When the compressor is switched off, the compressor
control module positions the control slider and the V
i
slider in a way to ensure an unloaded start of the com-
pressor.
Control of the motor contactors at compressor start
The compressor control module activates and deactiv-
ates the motor contactors. In the state of delivery, the
time relay control for a star-delta motor is programmed.
The control of a different motor start can be set via the
BEST Software, see chapter Selecting the motor start
function, page 23.
4.2 Monitoring and protective functions
The compressor control module monitors the signals
from several sensors located on the compressor:

Unloaded start Slider position indication
The compressor control module compares the meas-
ured values with programmed data, sending signals via
Modbus and indicating the operating condition by
means of differently coloured LEDs. The compressor
will be switched off in case of operation beyond the ap-
plication limits, lack of oil or critical motor start, see
chapter Protective functions, page 21.
