• The menu items "Port" and "Baudrate" are not relevant to the configuration of the
modem operation and can be left unchanged.
• By default, the item TimeOut is set to 500ms. This setting can be changed, if
necessary, and adjusted to the transmission quality of the telecommunication
connection.
• Check the "Use Modem" checkbox.
• In the "Port" selection list, select the required modem. The selection corresponds
to the installed devices known to the operating system.
• In field "Phone No.", enter the telephone number of the modem on the plant side.
Enter the number including the area code and extension. If the dialing modem on
the PC side is connected to a PBX system, it may be necessary to enter an
additional digit (normally "0") for outside calls.
• If this di
git was already entered during the configuration of the dialing parameters
according to chapter 5.3, it must not be entered in the field "Phone No." again.
• Confirm the settings by pressing the OK - button.
Now, all software settings required for establishing a connection have been made.
• Close the control software VPlus and start it again for the new settings to become
effective.
When VPlus is started, the following dialog box is displayed.
• Click on button "OK".
The modem dials the specified phone number.
Then, a transmission rate is agreed with the modem on the plant side. You will hear a
tone sequence with different frequencies.
When the telephone connection has been established successfully, this is indicated b
y
the status indicators named CD (Carrier Detect = carrier si
g
nal detected) on both
modems.
If the modem and the frequency inverter were installed on the plant side according to
chapter 4.1, the parameter data of the frequency inverter are read out now and
represented on the service terminal by VPlus. During the data transmission, the
transmission and receipt status indicators of the two modems will flash alternately.
Note: For detailed information on the location and the names of the status
indicators of the modem, refer to the corresponding modem operating
instructions.
When the teleservice session is complete, the modem connection can be disrupted
again by means of the control software VPlus
• To do this, click on the following button in the menu bar.
The status indicators of the modem go off. Access to the frequency inverter is only
possible after establishing a new connection.
