11 Removal and replacement
11.1 Required tools
Removal can be performed using standard tools. No special tools are necessary.
11.2 Preparing for removal
1. Decommission the relevant system part as described in the instruction manual for
the machine or system.
Relieve pressure in the hydraulic system according to the instructions of the
machine or system manufacturer.
Make sure the relevant machine/system components are depressurized and
de-energized.
2. Secure the relevant system part against reactivation.
11.3 Performing the disassembly
Proceed as follows to remove the axial piston unit:
1. Make sure you have the appropriate tools and wear personal protective equipment.
2. Allow the axial piston unit to cool down until it can be removed without danger.
3. For below-reservoir installation, before removing the axial piston unit, seal the
connection to the reservoir and/or drain the reservoir.
4. Place a drip tray under the axial piston unit to collect any hydraulic fluid that may
leak.
5. Disconnect the lines and collect the escaping hydraulic fluid in the drip tray.
6. Remove the axial piston unit. Use a suitable lifting device.
7. Completely drain the axial piston unit.
8. Plug all openings.
11.4 Preparing the components for storage or further use
Proceed as described in chapter 6.2 "Storing the axial piston unit" on page28.
