– Always use a torque wrench, which is assigned for the required tightening
torque.
– Keep bicycle clean and in perfect technical condition.
Furthermore benet from your common sense and refrain from
unreasonable actions!
1.2 En route
BFO disc brakes have an enormous braking power, be sure to acquaint
yourself carefully with the system and its performance.Bear in mind that
bicycling can put not only you, but other road users at risk, as well as damage
the bicycle and its components. Accidents resulting in injury or death can still
occur despite the use of protective equipment and/or safety devices.
Furthermore benet from your common sense and refrain from
unreasonable actions!
⚠⚠
Danger of accident due to failing components/parts.
– Make sure both brakes are working perfectly ne before every ride.
– Make sure pad thickness and rotors are in a adequate condition before
every ride (– see verifying state of wear, page 27).
– Make sure to check for any damage on brake mount on fork and frame
before every ride (cracks, fractures etc.).
– Make sure the quick clamping system of both wheels is tted correctly and
won’t come loose accidentally before every ride.
– Make sure that lever, handlebar and handle stem are tted correctly and
can not be rotated before every ride.
– In the event of an accident make sure to check both brakes for damage
and proper function.
– Don’t use your BFO disk brake if damage is visible, unusual noises occur or
doubts about the integrity of the product arise. If this is the case let your
BFO disk brake get checked out at an authorised bicycle shop or directly
at BFO.
⚠⚠
Risk of burns due to overheated rotors.
– Let rotors cool down – especially after long downhill riding – before
touching them.
⚠⚠
Danger of accident due to misconduct while riding or
improper gear/equipment.
– Always follow the road trafc regulations of the country you are riding
your bicycle in (light etc.) as well as regulations regarding mountainbiking
in nature.
– Always wear an intact helmet of good quality (e.g. ANSI-certied) and
clothing that won’t impede you.
– Only ride your bicycle if you are in a good state both physically and
mentally and all the components on your bicycle are in perfect condition.
– Always use both brakes when proceeding to decelerate.
– Always keep the extended braking distance and the low friction under
wet conditions in mind and ride particularly foresighted.
– Always keep the extended braking distance in mind and ride particularly
foresighted when the weight oft he system is increased (luggage, trailer
etc.).
1.3 Transport & Storage
Always make sure that parts of the system will not get damaged when
transporting or storing them. Especially buckling or crushing of hoses
should be avoided. Check condition and functioning of the system after
every transport of the bicycle.
⚠⚠
Loss of brake uid, air inclusion and damage of seals due to
caliper pistons moving off too far.
– Always put bleeding block between the pads when removing the wheels.
– Never pull lever when neither bleeding block nor rotors are between
pads.
