ENGLISH
Loss of brake uid, air inclusion and damage of seals due to
caliper pistons moving off too far.
Never pull lever without pads and rotor in place or bleeding block
mounted.
) Unscrew lock pin (2) (pic. 17).
) Take out pads.
) Clean of brake dust and other contaminations thorough with alcohol or
suitable residue free solvent.
) Put pads in correct position (pic. 18).
) Support plate is pointing outwards to braking cylinder.
) Screw new lock pin through eyelets (3) of supporting plate and tighten
it with a tightening torque of 1 N·m (9 lbf·in).
) Install wheel – be careful when placing rotors between pads.
) Adjust and close the quick release skewer.
) Pull lever rmly a couple of times.
) Make sure that rotor is centered and runs freely between pads.
) (Re)adjust caliper if neccessary (– see adjusting caliper, page 23).
) Adjust pressure point if neccessary (– see adjusting pressure point,
page 26).
Danger of accident due to unintentionally low braking power
because of new pads or rotors.
Get familiar with the braking power of new pads/rotors.
Adjust speed when using new pads/rotors.
3.3 Bleeding
You don’t have to bleed your BFO disk brake regularly. Only bleed your
BFO disk brake if absolutely necessary (e.g. soft pressure point, new brake
hose, service after loss of uid etc.).
Please consider the following when bleeding your disk brake: We
recommend the use of a BrakeForceOne bleeding kit (the use of a different
bleeding kit is permitted if compatible). 2× Syringe (30–50 ml) with hose
and bleeding connector (M5) Furthermore: 1× BFO bleeding block, 1× BFO
braking uid (water with 20% or 40% Glysantin® G40).
Irreparable damage of rotor seals/Damage of rotors beyond
repair.
Don’t use syringe, hose or bleeding connector that came into contact
with DOT braking uid or mineral oil.
Don’t bleed disk brake with distilled water or DOT.
Irreparable damage of pads/Damage of pads beyond repair.
Rotors or pads shouldn’t get into contact with braking uid.
) Immerse connector of the syringe (1) completely into BFO braking uid.
) Bring up syringe (1) and make sure it is completely free of air (pic. 19).
) Push in syringe (2) as far as possible.
) Remove wheel.
) Turn pressure point-setting wheel clockwise (-) until the upper edge of
the piston is aligned with the housing (pic. 20).
) Carefully lever pads apart with at and brought screwdriver or at tyre
lever until the support plate (5) of the pads is almost touching the caliper
(pic. 16).
) Remove pads (– see changing of pads, page 28) and put the bleeding
block in.
