24 1-2 Supplemental Restraint System
■ After inflation, the front air bags will deflate immediately so as not to affect
the driver's vision and operation of the steering wheel or other controllers.
■ The deployment of the air bags can be completed rapidly within a
millisecond to provide additional protection for occupants of the vehicle in
an accident.
■ When an air bag deploys, a loud sound will be produced, which will not
cause injury in general (however, there is possibility of tinnitus or
temporary deafness and hearing will be restored soon).
■ When an air bag deploys, you may see some smoke, which is actually
powder from the surface of an air bag. Although this powder is not toxic,
occupants with respiratory disease may still feel temporary discomfort.
In the following conditions, contact a BYD authorized service provider
immediately.
■ Air bags have fully been inflated.
■ When the front part of the vehicle
(the part in shadow in the figure)
suffers collision, the air bags fail to
deploy.
■ The air bag cover (the part in
shadow in the figure) is broken,
split or otherwise damaged.
■ The SRS indicator on the combination instrument lights up
