Theoutputstotheconsumers(Figure12,itemnos.7and8)onlyprovide+12 V
whentheconsumerrelayhasmadetheconnection. Theconsumerrelaydoes
notmaketheconnectionuntilthemainexternalswitchisclosed. Tomake
operationmoreconvenient,theexternalmainswitchismountedonaCalira
operatingpanel,orinalocationofyourchoiceinthemobilehome.
Youwillfindadescriptionofhowtoconnecttheexternalmainswitchunder
"Connection"or"ConnectionDiagram2".
Whenthetwolinkedvehiclesaretravellingtogether,thesupplybattery(battery
II)inthecaravanischargedviathestarterbattery(batteryI)inconjunction
withthetowingvehiclegenerator,andtherefrigeratorissuppliedwithpower
atthesametime. A voltageofatleast14.2voltisnecessaryinordertobringthe
supplybatterytoastateofoptimumcharge. Thisvoltageisnotavailableinthe
caravan,duetolinelosses.
Theintegratedvoltageboosterprovidesanoutputof14.2 V tothesupply
batterywhentheinputvoltageisbetween10and15 V.Itcompensatesfor
voltagefluctuationsandlinelosses,andautomaticallyswitchesthe12volt
powersupplytotherefrigerator.
Ifthereisaconnectiontothemains,theEVSwillactasanelectricalpower
supplyinmains-poweredmode. TheEVShaselectronicprotectionagainst
polarityinversion. Thechargingcurrentisonlyreleasedoncethebatteryis
correctlyconnectedandaminimumvoltageof1.5 V isapplied.Batteryvol-
tageisconstantlymonitoredduringthechargingprocess. Thechargingcurrent

Ifthepowersupplyisoperatedtogetherwithatemperaturesensorforthe
supplybattery,thepowersupplycontrolsthechargingvoltageautomatically
dependingonthebatterytemperature. Thisensuresaparticularlyeffectiveand
gentlychargingprocessforthebattery. Whennotusingatemperaturesensor,
thepowersupplycontrolsthechargingprocessasifthebatterytemperaturewas
20°C.
