ANNEXURE 2
Brief description: As per the Carrier Cardinal Rule Policy this standard applies for all
electricians/technicians involved in electrical work in the factory premises/Sites.

1.
Action
All employees must have this list Carrier India
Mandatory Fatality Prevention Review with them
and read through it before they start any electric
job.
Remove all conductive accessories (jewelry, chains
etc).
Before start working test your proximity voltage
sensor” and circuit-testing device in a known
energized source.
Test your insulated gloves.
Prior to touch any equipment, a check must be
made with a “proximity voltage sensor”, to ensure
that the frame and/or electric control enclosures of
the equipment you are going to work are not
energized
In the beginning treat every device to be alive ,you
never know.

Lockout and Tagout (LO/TO)
Identify & shut down all the energy sources that
power the equipment
Lock and Tag all the energy sources. Be aware of
additional power sources.
All employees working on the equipment must lock
with their own personal locks & tags all sources of
energy.
Verify the absence of electrical current or
voltage with a circuit-testing device; use
insulated gloves and an insulated mat.
Release stored energy if any (capacitors).
Perform the job and when finishes notify affected
persons of the return of electrical power.
