E550 - E550 CR - E550 PM - E550 PM CR Automatic Single-Side Edgebander Rel. 1.1.1
3.15 GLUE SCRAPER (OPTIONAL)
Description of unit
The unit is composed of:
A Fixed support
B Mobile blade support
C Fine adjustment knob
D Unit exclusion knob
Operation
The purpose of the glue scraping unit is to remove the line of glue that remains after the edge has been
milled.
The unit uses a suitably angled blade that removes excess glue with its edge. The blade is mounted on a
support that slides on a surface tilted by knob C (Fig. 3.15). Both the upper and lower supports are tted
with copier wheels E, which are suitably positioned to copy the panel.
The copiers are factory-adjusted, and require no additional adjustments.
The upper glue scraping unit is xed to the pressure bar, and is therefore regulated automatically according
to variations in the thickness of the panel to be scraped.
The parameters to be observed in the choice of replacement blades are as follows:
- dimensions of Widia blade 14x14x2 mm.
Adjustment
- slightly slacken locking screw D1;
- turn knob C clockwise for greater removal, and anticlockwise to remove less;
- it is advisable to avoid excessive removal. To change the results, a quarter-turn is sufcient.
- it is also advisable to carry out edging trials every time that knob C is adjusted;
- screw D1 must be tightened with every adjustment.
Excluding the unit. To exclude the unit, completely screw in knob D.
Replacing blades
BEFORE REPLACING THE BLADE: The other sides that have not yet been sharpened can be used rst.
Using the same procedure as for replacement, it is possible to rotate the blade and to reassemble it with
the side that is still sharp.
To replace the blade, the tapered screws securing the upper and lower blades must be slackened.
Remove the blade from its recess, clean away any residues from the recess, and replace the blade in its
recess.
Tighten the tapered screw.
No adjustments are necessary, because the tapered screw and the blade recess have been designed to
always keep the blade in the same position.
Maintenance: cleaning and lubrication.
Constantly check (even several times daily) the glue scraping unit to ensure that no edge residues interfere
with the correct operation of the unit.
