3.6 PRESSURE ROLLERS
Operation
The function of these two rollers is to ensure satisfactory glueing of the edge onto the panel.
The number, diameter and distance of the rollers are calculated to obtain sufcient cooling of the glue.
The purpose of the oating pressure rollers is to facilitate the application of thicker edges made from
relatively rigid materials that are not very exible.
The main motor-driven roller has a ring that restricts the movements of thin edges, which tend to rise.
To adjust this ring, slacken grubscrews E (Fig. 3.6.), move the edge manually as far as the pressure roller,
rest the ring against the edge leaving a play of 0.5 mm, and tighten grubscrews E.
Adjusting pressure roller position
The pressure rollers must be adjusted according to the thickness of the edge. Unscrew knobs A
and B,
insert a piece of the edge to be used, and retighten them.
The rollers will then be adjusted for the
thickness of the edge.
Adjustment of roller pressure
The opposing force (pressure) exerted by the rollers can be adjusted by turning nuts C, which regulate
preloading on the spring.

Maintenance: cleaning and lubrication
It is advisable to regularly clean the rollers by removing any glue residues. Use only wooden or plastic tools
for cleaning, to avoid damaging roller surfaces. The bearings of the rollers are sealed and are lifelong
lubricated.
Clean them with compressed air periodically, and lubricate the sliding bars and the thrust springs.
