E550 - E550 CR - E550 PM - E550 PM CR Automatic Single-Side Edgebander Rel. 1.1.1
3.2 CHAIN PANEL FEEDER UNIT
Description of unit
The panel feed unit consists in:
A Numerical indicator for panel height
B Crank for panel height regulation
C Panel height limiter
E Protection cover
F Chain with rubber pads
Operation
The feed system for the panels to be edged consists in a chain tted with rubber pads and a top pressure
bar adjustable in height tted with a double row of rubber rollers.
Chain movement starts only when the glue pot temperature rises above 190°C and button 6 on the control
panel has been pressed.
The lifting system consists in two screws and nuts, running along two round bars.
Advance speed is 9 m/min, permitting good productivity combined with perfect edge glueing.
The panel feed direction is indicated by the arrow in the diagram.
When the panel being edged has moved past the arrow on sticker K (Fig. 3.2), the next panel can be
inserted.
If this distance is not respected, the operating cycle will be altered and panels may be damaged!!!
If this situation arises, proceed as follows:
-immediately stop the machine using the emergency button;
-raise the pressure bar using crank B;
-remove the panels;
-RESET the machine by moving main switch 1 (Fig. 3.10) to OFF and then immediately back to ON.
Adjustment
Adjust pressure bar height according to the thickness of the panel to be edged, using crank B and reading
off the measurement on numerical indicator A.
Always adjust height downwards, to recover play from screws.
The purpose of plate C is to limit the thickness of the panels to be edged.
Variations in the height of the pressure bar also adjust the height of the operating units xed to the
pressure bar.
Maintenance: cleaning and lubrication.
Periodically clean the rubber rollers and pads with compressed air, to remove any machining wastes and
sawdust that may reduce the friction necessary for correct panel feed.
If the surfaces of the rubber pads and rollers no longer have sufcient adherence, a solvent to clean the
rubber can be used. Moisten a cloth with the solvent, and clean the rollers and pads one by one.
Protective gloves must be used for this operation. To clean the rubber rollers, all machine functions must
be halted using the emergency button. To clean the rubber pads, raise the pressure bar to 50 mm and
clean the accessible pads with the chain halted. Then move it forward using button 6 on the control panel,
halt it again and continue with cleaning operations.
After every 40 hours of work, open the hatches S and clean the compartments present at the ends of the
base.
