E550 - E550 CR - E550 PM - E550 PM CR Automatic Single-Side Edgebander Rel. 1.1.1
Replacing and sharpening millers
FOR ALL REPLACEMENT AND/OR SHARPENING OPERATIONS, IT IS COMPULSORY TO WEAR
PROTECTIVE GLOVES, TO TURN OFF AND LOCK THE MAIN SWITCH, AND TO DISCONNECT THE
COMPRESSED AIR SUPPLY.
When the millers are tted onto the motor shafts in the factory, special spacer washers B and D (Fig. 3.4a
are used both above and below the two millers C.
The millers can become blunted more rapidly at the point in which they mill the panel covering layer
(Formica), and therefore instead of sharpening, it is possible to move the milling point by changing the
order of the washers.
By moving 2 washers from below to above, the miller can be moved vertically, making it possible to use a
part of the miller that is still well sharpened to mill the panel covering layer, giving excellent results.
Remove the suction hoods by slackening metallic clamp Z at the bottom. The hoods are not
interchangeable.
Fit a C-wrench onto the M25 ringnut and a 10 mm Allen key at the centre of the motor shaft.
Completely unscrew the ringnut. Remove the washers and then the miller from the motor shaft.
CAUTION: NEVER start the motors without the millers. This could cause the anti-rotation spline of the
miller to be ejected.
The thickness of the diamond inserts allow them to be sharpened about three times.
The number of possible sharpenings is reduced or may not be possible if the diamond surfaces are
damaged.
It is PROHIBITED to invert the two millers by turning them over, because due to their design the blades are
efcient only in one position.
If the millers are exchanged, the quality of milling is drastically impaired.
Maintenance: cleaning and lubrication
Constantly check (even several times daily) the pre-milling unit and remove any edgeband residues that
might interfere with correct operation and/or movements.
Never use steel tools such as screwdrivers or wrenches to clean the millers.
Check that the suction pipes are always clean.
Clean the sliding guides of the unit with compressed air, and lubricate them.
The feed guide requires no particular maintenance.
It is absolutely inadvisable to disassemble and/or unscrew the xing and adjustment screws of the unit.
