E550 - E550 CR - E550 PM - E550 PM CR Automatic Single-Side Edgebander Rel. 1.1.1
3.5 GLUE POT
Technical characteristics:
Heating elements: 5 heating elements for Teon-coated glue pot + 1 heating element for spreading roller
Heating time from ambient temperature 200°C – 14–16 mins. approx.
Heating time from standby: 5-6 min.
Glue pot capacity 1 kg approx.
Operation
The purpose is to spread hot-melt glue on the panel to be edged.
The part of the PLC dedicated to temperature regulation controls the heating and operation of the glue pot
immediately when the main switch is moved to ON.
Follow these instructions for correct operation:
1) Open lid G and ll the pot with hot-melt glue pellets up to about 1 cm beneath the edge (A, Fig. 3.5).
Take care to ensure that the type of glue used is compatible with the technical characteristics of the
machine.
Recommended glues
Recommended glues
Jowat JOWAT 280.50 200°C
Emmebi International Type of glue equivalent in density/temperature to JOWAT 280.30
DORUS Type of glue equivalent in density/temperature to JOWAT 280.30
2) Operating temperature SP1 must be set to the temperature recommended by the manufacturer
(factory-set to 200°C).
3) The spreading roller with internal heating element automatically starts to turn, and the machine can be
started when the glue reaches AL = SP1-10°C.
The quantity of glue spread is adjusted with knob B, reducing it in a clockwise direction or increasing it in
an anticlockwise direction. Check the level of the glue in the pot, and if necessary add more up to the level
indicated in point 1.
“AL” is calculated by the PLC, which automatically subtracts 10°C from every value set for SP1.
Example: Operating temperature SP1 = 200°C, therefore AL = 190°C.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The set point for operation (SP1) must be set according to the characteristics of the
glue used.
Otherwise, there is the risk of breakage to the mechanical and/or electrical components of the glue
spreading roller.
We suggest starting with edging operations 5 minutes after the glue pot has reached the required
temperature of 200°C.
When temperature SP1 has been reached and with the feed chain halted, after 10 minutes the machine
moves into STANDBY, and the PLC adjusts the temperature to SP2 (factory set to 150°C).
To exit from the STAND-BY function, press SP1 or button 6.
4) The knurled plastic knob (D) is used to exclude the glue pot. The knob is screwed in at the factory to
avoid damage to the glue pot during transport.
To use the machine, unscrew the knob completely up to locknut E.
Nut E is factory-adjusted, and its position must NOT be changed for any reason whatsoever.
Maintenance: lubrication, replacement of burnt glue, replacement of bunt-out heating elements
Lubrication must be carried out with the machine turned on and the roller rotating. The operation is
performed with the grease gun supplied with the machine (F), tting it onto nipple C. Use Arexons GC 300
lubrication grease for hot bearings.
IF LUBRICATION IS NOT CARRIED OUT, THE GLUE POT CAN BE SERIOUSLY DAMAGED, AND ITS
REPAIR WILL NOT BE COVERED BY THE GUARANTEE.
