E550 - E550 CR - E550 PM - E550 PM CR Automatic Single-Side Edgebander Rel. 1.1.1
3.7 END TRIMMING UNIT WITH CIRCULAR BLADES FOR FRONT AND REAR ENDS
Technical characteristics
End trimming motor 200 Hz. - 12’000 g/1’ - 0,22 kW
Blades Ø 100 mm
Description of unit
The end trimming unit automatically trims excess edge at both the front and rear ends at 0°.
The unit is composed of a high-frequency motor (A, Fig. 3.7) with blades B and C, with Ø 100 mm.
The motor is mounted on a carriage xed to two machined bars that run vertically, moved by piston P.
Piston Q moves the unit horizontally along guide G.
After trimming the excess edge ends, the motor carriage moves completely downwards, also lowe-
ring the copiers.
This allows the copiers to disappear, so that the panel can move forward.
Operation
The end trimming unit starts to operate when the chain is started (button 6) if the pneumatic cycle
(button 3) and motor rotation (button 8) have been activated on the control panel.
Optimal vertical movement speed is factory-adjusted, but it can be modied if necessary using re-
gulators R.
Pressure regulator A on the compressed air panel (Fig. 3.7a) regulates the horizontal counterthrust
applied by the end trimming unit during the rst cut.
It is advisable to make adjustments only after having excluded every other possible cause for
malfunctions (unit not lubricated, blades dirty or worn, insufcient compressed air, interference from
edge residues, etc).
Adjusting feelers
The feeler support has two stainless steel plates D.
Opposing plates D are xed with two tapered screws, and rest on Belleville washers.
When the screws are tightened, the blade cuts more, and when they are loosened, it cuts less.
It is advisable to adjust the screws with the same number of turns, to avoid misalignments.
Tool replacement/sharpening
To replace the blades, set the main switch to OFF, disconnect the compressed air and open the rear
hatch. Remove suction hood K.
Wearing safety gloves, hold the motor shaft still with an Allen key and use an open-end wrench to
open screw V
(LEFT-HAND THREAD) that secures the blades (Fig. 3.7b). Remove the blades and sharpen or
replace them.
Reassemble the blades on the motor shaft following the reverse sequence.
CAUTION! Blades have only one correct direction. Follow the indications given in Fig. 3.7c.
CAUTION! After reassembling the suction hood, check that the blades move without obstructions.
During reassembly, ensure that all parts removed are perfectly clean.
