5.3 Valve/Manifold
5.3-1 Valve Removal and
Installation
The following procedure can be performed with the Clamp
mounted on the truck.
1 Raise the Clamp so that the Valve is accessible from
behind, through the mast.
2 Remove the valve guard (if equipped).
3 Disconnect all hydraulic supply hoses at the Valve and
plug the hose ends. Tag the hoses for reassembly.
4 Remove the four Allen-head capscrews fastening the
Valve to the manifold. For reassembly, tighten the
capscrews to 15 ft.-lbs. (20 Nm).
CAUTION: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN CAPSCREWS.
5 Remove the Valve from the manifold. Keep track of the
three O-rings between the Valve and manifold.
6 For reassembly, reverse the above procedures with the
following exceptions:
• For Valve service, Refer to Section 5.3-3 and 5.3-4.
• Replace the three O-rings between the Valve and
manifold. Use petroleum jelly to hold in place.
5.3-2 Manifold Removal and
Installation
The following procedure requires that the Clamp be
removed from the truck.
1 Purge the cylinders of hydraulic fluid. Refer to Section
5.4-2, Steps 5 through 8.
2 Remove the Clamp from the truck as described in
Section 5.1.
3 Remove the Valve from the manifold as described in
Section 5.3-1.
4 Remove the remaining six Allen-head capscrews
fastening the manifold to the cylinders. For reassem-
bly, tighten the capscrews to 15 ft.-lbs. (20 Nm).
CAUTION: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN CAPSCREWS.
5 Remove the manifold from the cylinders. Keep track of
the eight O-rings between the manifold and cylinders.
6 For reassembly, reverse the above procedures with the
following exceptions:
• Assure that the manifold and cylinder seal areas are
not damaged or scratched, and that the O-ring
cavities are clean.
• Replace the eight O-rings between the manifold and
the cylinders. Use petroleum jelly to hold in place.
WARNING: Before removing hydraulic
components, relieve pressure in the hydrau-
lic system. Position arms to midstroke, turn
the truck off and move the auxiliary control
valves several times in both directions.
