5.3-3 Valve Service
IMPORTANT: Service the Valve in a clean work area.
E-Series Clamps use three different types of Valve assem-
blies: non-sideshifting, sideshifting, and sideshifting with
regeneration. Service procedures are the same for all.
1 Remove the Valve from the Clamp as described in
Section 5.3-1.
2 Remove the cartridges from the Valve.
3 Remove the remaining plugs and fittings.
4 Remove the O-rings and back-up rings from the car-
tridges.
5 Clean all parts with cleaning solvent or kerosene.
6 For reassembly, reverse the above
procedures with the following exceptions:
Replace the O-rings
and back-up rings on
the cartridges as
shown below.
Lubricate the car-
tridges, fittings and
plugs with petroleum
jelly prior to installation.
Tighten cartridges to 30 ft.-lbs. (40 Nm).
CAUTION: Assure that the cartridges are installed in the
correct port location in the Valve body. Refer to the part
number stamped on the hex end of the cartridge.
