8.1 Problems with the engine
Problem Possible cause Remedy
Engine does not start No fuel in the tank
Speed (rpm) adjustment lever is
not in the Stop or Idle position
There is air in the fuel system
Battery is at
Re-ll with fuel
Move the lever to the start position
Bleed off the air in the fuel system
R e-charge the battery
Engine has difculty
starting
The engine oil is too thick (due
to cold weather)
The fuel (Diesel) is viscous
(tacky) and/or dirty
Oil appropriate to the time of year (change the oil)
Clean the fuel system (tank, pipes lter)
The engine has loss
of power
Insufcient fuel supply
The wrong sort of lter
Dirty engine air lter
Check the fuel pipes for leakage
Check the fuel lter for dirt
Change the fuel lter
Bleed off the fuel system
Use the correct fuel lter (original parts)
Clean or change the air lter cartridge
The engine runs too
hot
Not enough engine oil
The wrong sort of fuel
The engine is not cooling off
enough
Check the oil level and, if necessary ll up
Use the correct, recommended fuel
Check the engine air cooler grating, the air-directing
panels for dirt and stoppages. Also check the installa-
tions
ATTENTION
Pay attention to the operating manual of the engine!
For (further) troubleshooting, please also observe the operating instructions of the engine manufacturer
provided, or contact a specialised workshop.
All works on the diesel engine must only be performed by an authorized qualied work-shop or directly
by CEDIMA
