Spill Removal
If a spill occurs within the
instrument, remove the spill-
age as follows:
1. Turn the instrument off
and remove the power
cord from the instru-
ment.
2. On the left side of the
instrument (facing
instrument) locate the
handle of the bottom
cover. Grip the handle
and pull the bottom
cover outward. Note:
The cover may or may
not be removed during
this procedure.
3. Using Kimwipes or
damp paper towels,
remove all fl uids from
the bottom cover.
4. Open the sample cham-
ber door. Using Kim-
wipes or paper towels,
remove all fl uids from
the wash station and
turntable assembly.
5. Manually rotate the
turntable so that the
wash station is centered
beneath the homog-
enizer.
6. If the bottom cover
was not removed, use
the handle and push
the cover into position,
permitting the magnets
to assist in positioning
the cover.
7. If the bottom cover
was removed, slide
the instrument slightly
forward on the work
surface or carefully
position the instrument
on its right side (facing
instrument). Position
the bottom cover on the
bottom cover fastener.
Rotate the bottom
cover, permitting the
magnets to assist in po-
sitioning the cover. Re-
position the instrument
for proper placement on
the work surface.
Place an empty fi lter in the unit and
press OK.

Optics Cleaning
1. From the Main Screen,
using the arrow keys,
select “Setup” and
press the “Enter” key.
From the “Settings”
screen, select “Mainte-
nance” and press the
“Enter” key.
2. From the “Settings”
screen, select “Mainte-
nance” and press the
“Enter” key.
3. Using the arrow keys,
select “Maintenance.”
4. Using the arrow keys,
select “Optics Clean.”
5. Press the “Enter” key.
6. Place a fi lter from the
optics cleaning kit in the
fi lter holder of the instru-
ment.
7. Press “OK.”
8. Place an empty cup on
the external balance.
9. Press “TARE.”
10. Dispense at least 17g of
the optics cleaning solu-
tion into the cup.
11. Place the cup and
solution into the cup
holder of the instrument
turntable.
12. Press “OK.” The
instrument washes the
system optics with the
optics cleaning solution.
13. Once the cleaning
procedure is completed,
remove the cup with the
cleaning solution from
the instrument. Place
a lid on the cup and
discard the cup into a
garbage can.
