Cylinder and Components
Edition 1 – December 2019 SAFETY FIRST 37
MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Screen activation
The control module automatically shows the primary screen to the operator when
activated. The screen is activated by:
raising it to the upright position; and
pressing either green RESET button.
Power supply
The control module is powered by the power module located at the base of the
backplate.
The control module is intrinsically safe, meaning that it will not serve as an ignition
source in a flammable atmosphere.
Lights
When the BA is active and in use and the control module is hanging down by the
operator’s side, the analogue gauge surround and the manual ALARM button surround
function as buddy lights. These cease functioning as buddy lights (flashing green, red
or
yellow depending on status) when the control module is lifted. When the operator
lifts
the control module a tilt switch activates the screen and lights up the analogue
gauge’s
white illumination lights and LCD primary screen lights.
The surround lights will power off when the control module is lowered. If the
control
module is kept upright, the analogue gauge surround, manual alarm button
surround
and digital screen will remain illuminated for approximately five seconds. Pressing either
of the green RESET buttons on the control module, or lifting the control module will
illuminate the gauge and digital screen again.
