Chapter 2
Cylinder and Components
66 SAFETY FIRST Edition 1December 2019
MSA G1 Electronic Breathing Apparatus
Activation
The voice projection speaker powers on automatically when the set is pressurised. A
blue LED status (on/off) indicator, located at the top of the voice projection
speaker, and
two electronic beeps indicate the voice
communication system is powered.
To activate the voice projection speaker:
don the mask; and
take the first breath, then
test the speaker by speaking into the mask and ensuring there is speaker output.
Deactivation
The voice projection speaker turns off when the BA is
depressurised or the control
module is put into sleep
mode.
It can also be deactivated by pressing and holding
the button at the top until the blue
LED light has gone out.
Deactivation is acknowledged by a beep.
An illuminated blue LED on the voice projection speaker does not
necessarily indicate the speaker is functioning correctly. It merely
indicates
the BA is drawing power.
To turn the speaker back on, press and hold the button at the top until the LED light
is
illuminated. The speaker will beep twice to acknowledge it has been turned back on.
