  Undercut in CIGWELD Welding System can occur if the welding current is too high. Try reducing the welding current. Also, a long welding arc can cause undercut; shorten the arc length. Ensure the electrode angle is correct, maintaining at least a 45° angle to the vertical face. If the joint preparation restricts the electrode angle, allow more room for manipulation. Using a smaller gauge electrode and pausing at the edge of the weave to allow weld metal build-up can also help.

  Slag inclusion in CIGWELD Welding System can occur if non-metallic particles are trapped in undercut from a previous run. Clean the slag and cover with a run from a smaller diameter electrode. Ensure the joint preparation isn't too restricted, allowing for adequate penetration and slag removal. Chip or grind out any irregular deposits that trap slag. Use a smaller electrode with sufficient current for penetration, and remove all slag from corners. Clean the joint to remove rust or mill scale that prevents full fusion. Use electrodes designed for the welding position to control slag properly.
