Stop & Start
TheStop&Startsystemputstheenginetemporarilyintostandby-STOPmode-duringstopsinthetraffic(redlights,trafficjams,orother...).The
enginerestartsautomatically-STARTmode-assoonasyouwanttomoveoff.Therestarttakesplaceinstantly,quicklyandsilently.
Operation
Going into engine STOP
mode
This indicator lamp comes on in the instrument
panelandtheenginegoesintostandby
automatically:
- with a manual gearbox, at speeds below
12mph(20km/h),orvehiclestationary
(withPureTech130,THP165and
BlueHDi 100, 115 and 120 versions), when
youplacethegearleverinneutral,andyou
release the clutch pedal,
- with an automatic gearbox, with the
vehicle stationary, when you press the
brakepedalorplacethegearselectorlever
in position N.
NeverrefuelwiththeengineinSTOP
mode;youmustswitchofftheignition
withtheSTART/STOPbutton.
Foryourcomfort,duringparking
manoeuvres, STOP mode is not
available for a few seconds after
comingoutofreversegear.
The Stop & Start system does not affect
the functionality of the vehicle, such as
forexample,braking,powersteering...
Special cases: STOP mode not
available
STOPmodeisnotinvokedwhen:
- thedriver'sdoorisopen,
- thedriver'sseatbeltisnotfastened,
- thevehiclehasnotexceeded6mph
(10km/h)sincethelastenginestartusing
theSTART/STOPbutton,
- theelectricparkingbrakeisappliedor
beingapplied,
- theengineisneededtomaintaina
comfortabletemperatureinthepassenger
compartment,
- demistingisselected,
- somespecialconditions(batterycharge,
enginetemperature,brakingassistance,
ambienttemperature...)wheretheengineis
neededtoassurecontrolofasystem.
In this case, this indicator lamp flashes
forafewsecondsthengoesoff.
This operation is perfectly normal.
Perfectforurbanuse,theStop&Startsystemreducesfuelconsumptionandexhaustemissionsaswellasthenoiselevelwhenstationary.
If your vehicle is fitted with the system, a time
counter calculates the sum of the periods in
STOPmodeduringajourney.Itresetsitselfto
zeroeverytimetheignitionisswitchedonwith
theSTART/STOPbutton.
