CFC-E Installation Manual
2-6 Part No. 750-459
2.3 - Horizontal Thru-Wall Venting / Direct Vent Combustion Air
2.3.1 - Installation
These installations utilize the boiler mounted blower to draw combustion air from outside and vent
combustion gases to the outside.
Care must be taken during assembly that all joints are sealed properly and are airtight for both the
combustion air intake and the exhaust stack piping system.
The stack vent must be installed to prevent the potential accumulation of condensate in the stack pipes.
It is recommended that the vent be installed with a slope of at least 1/4” per foot of horizontal run.
Breeching should be pitched either towards the boiler or the vent termination depending on layout
specifics. Review specific layout requirements and install per stack manufacturer's recommendations.
Note: For installations in cold/freezing climates, it is recommended that:
1. The vent shall be installed with a slight upward slope of not more than 1/4" per foot of horizontal run to the vent termination.
In this case, an approved condensate trap must be installed per applicable codes.
2. The vent may be insulated through the length of horizontal run, depending on specific installation conditions.
