2.6 - Stack & Combustion Air Duct Sizing
Each additional 90° elbow equals 5 equivalent feet of ductwork. Flue terminations may add 5-10 feet to the equivalent length
and should also be included in the equivalent length calculation.
Draft tolerance at boiler flue connection during operation is +/-0.25” W.C.; Use +/-0.10” when designing venting system.
*Maximum duct length assumes horizontal run and sidewall terminations. Larger diameter venting, vertical flue runs, and
vertical flue termination may allow for longer vent lengths than indicated here, provided the engineered draft calculations are
within the allowable operational tolerance of +/-0.25” W.C. Use +/-0.10” when designing venting system.

2.7 - Venting for Multiple Units
Cleaver-Brooks recommends that each Model CFC-E in a multiple boiler installation be vented
individually. If it becomes necessary to connect multiple boilers to a common breeching, measures
should be taken to ensure an unrestricted flow of flue gas from each boiler.
To help maintain balanced draft conditions in common flue vented systems, isolation dampers (flue or
combustion air) with “prove open” switches are required. The damper prove must be wired in the boiler's
safety interlock circuit.
Ensure proper draft is maintained during all load conditions. If required, draft control dampers and/or a
draft inducer can be utilized. Contact your local representative for more information.
