COOKTOP PROBLEMS
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
Surface units
do not work
properly
There is no power to
the cooktop.
Make sure electrical plug is plugged
into a live, properly grounded outlet.
Replace the fuse or reset the circuit
breaker.
Cooktop controls
improperly set.
Check to see the correct control is
set for the surface unit you are
using.
Excessive
heat around
cookware on
cooktop
The cookware is not
the proper size for
the element or
burner.
Use cookware with a bottom surface
approximately the same size as the
cooking area, element, or surface
burner. Cookware should not extend
more than 1" (2.5 cm) outside the
cooking area. Adjust the power level
or burner flame appropriately.
Frequent
cycling on
and off of
surface units
The element cycle
on and off to
maintain the heat
setting.
This is normal even when the
element is on the highest setting.
Surface unit
stops
glowing
when
changed to a
lower setting
The unit is still on
and hot.
This is normal.
