PARKING BRAKE LEVER
Toset the parkingbrake: Fullydepressthebrakepedal.Movethe
parkingbrakeleverintotheparkingbrakeposition.Releasethe brake
pedaltoallowthe parkingbraketo engage.
Torelease theparkingbrake: Depressthebrakepedalandthe park-
ingbrakeleverwillmoveoutofthe parkingbrakepositionon itsown.
Theparkingbrakewillthenbereleased.Releasethe brakepedal.
NOTE:The parkingbrakemustbe setif theoperatorleavestheseat
withtheenginerunningor the enginewillautomaticallyshutoff.
THROTTLE/CHOKE CONTROL LEVER
Thethrottle/chokecontrolleveris
locatedonthe right sideof the trac-
tor'sdashpanel.This levercontrols
thespeedofthe engineand when
pushedall thewayforward,the
chokecontrolalso.Whensetin
a givenposition,thethrottlewill
maintaina uniformenginespeed.
IMPORTANT: Whenoperating
thetractorwiththecuttingdeck
engaged,thethrottle/chokecontrol
levermustalwaysbe inthe FAST
(rabbit)position.
IGNITION SWITCH
Thekeyswitchmoduleisusedto
startand stoptheengine.Insert
keyintothe keyswitchmodule
andturnclockwiseto theSTART
position.Releasethe keyintothe
normalmowingpositiononceen-
ginehasstarted.The headlights
willbeactivatedautomatically.
Tostopthe engine,turnthe
ignitionkeycounterclockwiseto
theSTOPposition.

IMPORTANT:Priorto operatingthetractor,referto boththe"Safety
InterlockSystem"and"StartingTheEngine"laterinthissectionof this
manualfordetailedinstructionsregardingthe IgnitionSwitchModule.
Neverleavea runningmachineunattended.AlwaysdisengagePTO
(BladeEngageLever),moveshiftleverintoneutralposition,setpark-
ingbrake,stopengineandremovekeyto preventunintendedstarting.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT LEVER
Theseatadjustmentleverislocatedbelowthefront/leftoftheseat.The
leverallowsforadjustmentofthe foreandaft positionofthe seat.Refer
totheAssemblysectionof themanual formoredetailedinstructionsfor
adjustingtheseatposition.
AUTO-DRIVE PEDAL
Thedrivepedalislocatedonthe rightsideof thetractor,alongthe
runningboard.Depressthedrivepedalforwardandthe tractorwill
moveinthe directionthatthe shiftleveris engagedin. Tocausethe
tractortotravelforward,whileat acompletestop,movetheshiftlever
intothe Forwardposition.Graduallysteponthe drivepedalandthe
tractorwillbeginto moveforward.Tomovein Reverse,followthe same
procedureonlymovetheshiftleverintothereverseposition.
Thegroundspeediscontrolledwiththe drivepedal.Thefurther
forwardthatthe pedalis pivoted,thefasterthe tractorwill travel.
Thepedalwill returntoits originalpositionwhenit'snotdepressed.
Referto theOperationsectionof thismanualfordetailedinstructions
regardingthedrivepedal.
IMPORTANT= Alwayssetthe parkingbrakewhenleavingthe tractor
unattended.
DECK LIFT LEVER
Foundonyour tractor'srightfender,the deckliftleverisused
tochangethe heightof the cuttingdeck.Touse,movethe
levertotheleft, thenplaceinthenotchbestsuitedfor your
application.
PTO (BLADE ENGAGE) LEVER
Foundonthe tractor'srightfender,the PTO(bladeengage)
leverisusedtoengagepowertothe cuttingdeckorother
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Tooperate,movethe
leverall thewayforward.Movingthe leveralltheway
rearwardintothePTOOFFpositiondisengagespowertothe
cuttingdeck/attachment.
NOTE=ThePTO(bladeengage)levermustbe inthe
disengaged(PTOOFF)positionwhenstartingtheengine.
CUP HOLDER
Thetractor'scup holderis locatedon thefendertothe left of
theseat.
SHIFT LEVER
Theshift leverislocatedonthe left
sideofthe fenderand hasthree
positions,FORWARD,NEUTRAL
and REVERSE.The brakepedal
mustbedepressedandthe tractor
mustnotbe in motionwhenthe
movingshiftlever.
IMPORTANT: Neverforcethe
shiftlever.Doingsomayresultin
seriousdamagetothetractor's
transmission.
REVERSE

Thebrakepedalis locatedon the leftside of thelawntractor,alongthe
runningboard.Depressthebrakepedaltoengagethe discbrakeand
bringthetractortoa completestop.
NOTE=Thepedalmustbe depressedto starttheengine.Referto
SafetyInterlockSwitcheslaterin thissectionof thismanual.
