DRiViNG ON SLOPES
Refertothe SLOPEGAUGEintheSafetyInstructionssectionof the
manualto helpdetermineslopeswhereyou mayoperatethis tractor
safely.
Donotmowon inclineswitha slopein excessof15degrees(a rise
ofapproximately2-1/2feetevery10feet). Thetractorcouldoverturn
andcauseseriousinjury.
• Mowupanddownslopes,NEVERacross.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectionon slopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,or otherhiddenobjects.
Uneventerraincouldoverturnthemachine.Tallgrasscanhide
obstacles.
Avoidturnswhendrivingona slope.Ifa turn mustbemade,turn
downtheslope.Turningupa slopegreatlyincreasesthechance
ofa rollover.
Avoidstoppingwhendrivingupa slope.Ifit is necessaryto stop
whiledrivingupa slope,startup smoothlyandcarefullytoreduce
thepossibilityof flippingthetractoroverbackward.
ENGAGING THE BLADES
EngagingthePTO(BladeEngage)transferspowerto thecuttingdeck
orother(separatelyavailable)attachments.Toengagetheblades,
proceedas follows:
1. Movethethrottle/chokecontrolleverto theFAST(rabbit)position.
2. GraspthePTO(BladeEngage)leverandpivotit all theway
forwardintotheengaged(ON)position.
3. Keepthethrottleleverinthe FAST(rabbit)positionforthemost
efficientuseof thecuttingdeckor other(separatelyavailable)
attachments.
NOTE:The enginewillautomaticallyshutoff if the PTOisengaged
withtheshiftleverin positionfor reversetravelwiththeignitionkeyin
theONposition.
MULCHING
A mulchkit isavailableasan attachment.Mulchingisa processof
recirculatinggrassclippingsrepeatedlybeneaththecuttingdeck.The
ultra-fineclippingsarethenforcedbackintothe lawnwheretheyact as
a naturalfertilizer.
A mulchkit canbe purchasedthroughthe retaillocationinwhichyou

USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER
Toraisethecuttingdeck,movethe decklift levertothe left,then place
itin the notchbestsuitedfor yourapplication.RefertoSettingThe
CuttingHeightearlierinthis section.
MOWING
Tohelpavoidbladecontactora thrownobjectinjury,keepbystand-
ers,helpers,childrenandpetsat least75feetfromthe machine
whileit isin operation.Stopmachineif anyoneentersthearea.
Thefollowinginformationwill be helpfulwhenusingthecuttingdeck
withyourtractor:
Planyourmowingpatterntoavoiddischargeof materialstoward
roads,sidewalks,bystandersandthelike.Also,avoiddischarging
materialagainstawall or obstructionwhichmaycausedischarged
materialtoricochetbacktowardtheoperator.
Donotmowat highgroundspeed,especiallyif a mulchkit or
grasscollectorisinstalled.
• Forbestresultsit is recommendedthatthe firsttwolaps becut
withthedischargethrowntowardsthecenter.Afterthefirsttwo
laps,reversethedirectiontothrowthe dischargetotheoutside
forthe balanceofcutting.Thiswill givea betterappearanceto the
lawn.
• Donot cutthe grasstoo short. Shortgrassinvitesweedgrowth
andyellowsquicklyin dry weather.
• Mowingshouldalwaysbedonewiththe engineat full throttle.
• Underheavierconditionsit maybe necessaryto go backoverthe
cut areaa secondtimeto get a cleancut.
• Do NOTattemptto mowheavybrushandweedsandextremely
tallgrass.Yourtractoris designedtomowlawns,NOTclear
brush.
• Keepthe bladessharpand replacethebladeswhenworn.Refer
to CuttingBladesinthe Servicesectionof thismanualfor proper
bladesharpeninginstructions.
HEADLIGHTS
• The lampsare ONwheneverthetractor'sengineis running.
• The lampsturnOFFwhenthe ignitionkeyis movedtothe STOP
position.
