Anyfueloroil spilledonthe machineshouldbewipedoff promptly.Do
NOTallowdebristoaccumulatearoundthe coolingfinsof theengine
oron anyotherpartof themachine.
IMPORTANT: Theuseof a pressurewasherto cleanyourtractoris
NOTrecommended.It maycausedamagetoelectricalcomponents,
spindles,pulleys,bearingsorthe engine.
A screwplugcan befoundon yourtractor'sdecksurfaceas seenin
Fig. 14.Thisplugcanbe replacedwitha waterport tobeusedas part
ofa separately-availabledeckwashsystem.
TheDeckWashSystemTM is usedto rinsegrassclippingsfromthe
deck'sundersideandpreventthebuildupof corrosivechemicals.

ADJUSTMENTS
Neverattempttomakeanyadjustmentswhilethe engineis running,
exceptwherespecifiedin the operator'smanual.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE: Checkthetractor'stirepressurebeforeperforminganydeck
levelingadjustments.Referto Tiresinthe Servicesectionofthis
manualformoreinformationregardingtire pressure.
Front To Rear
Thefrontof the cuttingdeckis supportedbya stabilizerbarthatcan
beadjustedto levelthe deckfromfrontto rear.Thefrontof the deck
shouldbebetween1A-inchand3A-inchlowerthan therearof thedeck.
Adjustif necessaryasfollows:
1. Withthetractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,placethelever
forliftingthe platformon the secondtothetop notch(second
highestposition)androtatethe bladeascloseas possibletothe
dischargechannelthat is parallelto thetractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe frontofthe bladetipto theground
andthe rearof the bladetip to theground.Thefirstmeasure-
menttakenshouldbe between1A"and3A"lessthanthe second
measurement.Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,if necessary,to thenextstep.
3. Locatethe flangelocknutonthe frontsideofthe stabilizer
bracket.SeeFig.15.
• Tightenthe flangelocknut to raisethe frontof the deck;
Loosentheflangelocknutto lowerthefrontof thedeck.

Side to Side
Ifthecuttingdeckappearstobe mowingunevenly,a sideto side
adjustmentcanbeperformed.Adjustifnecessaryas follows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm, levelsurface,placethedecklift
leverin thesecondfromthe topnotch(secondhighestposition)
and rotatebothbladessothat theyare perpendicularwiththe
tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe outsideofthe left bladetipto the
groundandthe distancefromthe outsideofthe rightbladetip to
theground.Bothmeasurementstakenshouldbeequal.Ifthey're
not, proceedto thenextstep.
3. Loosen,but do NOTremove,the hexcap screwonthe leftdeck
hangerbracket.SeeFig. 16.
4. Balancethedeckby usinga wrenchtoturn theadjustmentgear
(foundimmediatelybehindthehexcap screwjust loosened)
clockwise/uporcounterclockwise/down.Thedeckis properly
balancedwhen bothbladetip measurementstakenearlierare
equal.
5. Retightenthe hexcap screwon theleft deck hangerbracket
whenproperadjustmentis achieved.
