Gasoline
Thegasolinetankis locatedunderthehood.Do notoverfill.
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableandthevaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel machineindoors
orwhiletheengineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
_ppes,andothersourcesof gn t on.
NOTE : Purchasegasolineinsmallquantities.Do notuse gasolineleft
overfromthe previousseason,tominimizegumdepositsin the fuel
system.
• Thisengineis certifiedtooperateon unleadedgasoline.For best
results,fillthe fueltankwithonlyclean,fresh,unleadedgasoline
witha pumpstickeroctaneratingof87or higher.
• Gasohol(upto 10%ethylalcohol,90%unleadedgasolineby
volume)isanapprovedfuel.Othergasoline/alcoholblends,such
asE85,arenot approved.
• MethylTertiaryButylEther(MTBE)andunleadedgasolineblends
(uptoa maximumof 15%MTBEby volume)are approvedfuels.
Othergasoline/etherblendsare notapproved.
• Fillfuel tankoutdoorsorin well-ventilatedarea.
• Do notoverfillfueltank. Filltankto no morethan1/2inch below
bottomoffillerneckto allowspaceforfuel expansion.
• Neverremovegas capor addfuel whiletheengineis hotor run-
ning.Allowenginetocool atleasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
• Ifgasolineis spilled,wipeit off theengineandequipment.Move
machinetoanotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingthe
engine.
To Add Gasoline
1. Turnthe engineoff andletenginecool atleast2 minutesbefore
removingthefuelcap.The gasolinetankis locatedunderthe
hood.Removethefuel capbyturningit counterclockwise.
2. Fillthefuel tankwithgasoline.Useonlyclean,fresh(nomore
than30 daysold),unleadedgasoline.Filltankto nomore
than1/2inch belowbottomoffillerneckto allowspaceforfuel
expansion.
3. Reinstallthe fuelcap.
IMPORTANT: Donot overfillthetank.Fill tanktono morethan1/2
inchbelowbottomoffiller necktoallowspacefor fuelexpansion.See
Fig.7.

• Go upanddownslopes,notacross.

• Ifmachinestopsgoinguphill,stopbladesand backdownhill
slowly.
• Donot mowwhenchildrenorothersare around.
• Nevercarrychildren,evenwith bladesoff.
• Lookdownand behindbeforeandwhilebacking.
• Keepsafetydevices(guards,shields,and switches)inplace
andworking.
• Removeobjectsthat couldbethrownby theblades.
• Knowlocationandfunctionofall controls.
• Besurebladesandenginearestoppedbeforeplacinghandsor
feetnearblades.
• Beforeleavingoperator'sposition,stoptractor,disengage
blades,engageparkingbrake,shutengineoff,and removekey.
