Main Track (OPS PRGM) Programming
DO NOT change locomotive decoder addresses or accessory decoder addresses
using the main line programming method - use the programming track.
“OPS Programming” or “Mainline Programming” allows changes to a decoder while it is on the
main track. OPS programming is a safe way to make changes to a specific locomotive without
worrying about changing other locomotives. You can change any CV in the selected decoder. All
other decoders will ignore the programming commands.
For best results, make sure the locomotive is not running and is on a clean section of track. The
decoder must be powered to receive the programming commands.
The decoder address is always used in OPS programming since the Command Station must know
where to send the programming commands.
mOPS PRGM
This key always starts any operation where you intend to program
a locomotive decoder on the main line. You then must specify the
locomotive decoder's address. For this example locomotive #
1534 will be used.
m1, m5, m3, m4, mENT
Now you must specify what it is you will be programming. You
may program any CV inside the decoder except CV1. For CV1,
the primary address, use the programming track.
You may use the direct entry keys for ACCEL, DECL, LOCO, MSV, #STEPS (number of speed
steps), SPDTABL (speed table), and MACRO.
For this example, the ACCEL value will be changed to 5.
mACCEL [push the OPS PRGM key again]
m5,
mENT
You can select another item to program or push ESC to end the
procedure. All other OPS programming commands using direct
entry keys are done the same way.
Programming a specific CV value on the mainline is slightly different but just as easy and is
described on the next page.

Locomotive Must Be On The Main
Track And Powered
A common problem during main track
programming is forgetting to put the
locomotive on the layout and in a
powered section. Make sure the
locomotive is not running. Intermittent
contact will interfere with the
programming commands.
