Building an Advanced Consist - Step-By Step Example
The 3 locomotives from the last page will be used for this example. From left to right, the
locomotives are 2841, 51 and 1891 which are also their primary addresses programmed into the
decoder. For this example, the lead locomotive is1891 and forward will be defined as moving to
the right as shown by the arrow. The Advanced Consist number will be the last two digits of the
lead locomotive, 91. The following keystrokes are used to create Advanced Consist #91.
mSETUP,
mADVCON [ the 9 key]
m9, m1, mENT
m1 to add locomotive
Always start with the lead locomotive and work your way to the rear locomotive.
m1, m8, m9, m1, mENT This is the lead locomotive's decoder
address and it must be present on the mainline and powered up. If
not, it will not "hear" the programming command.
mN-ON, Press this key (found in the Accessories section of the keyboard) to tell the Command
Station that the locomotive is in the “normal” direction relative to forward movement of the lead
loco. Proceed on to the next locomotive.
m1 to add the second locomotive
m5, m1, mENT
this is the 2nd locomotive's decoder address and it must be present
on the mainline and powered up. If not, it will not "hear" the
programming command.
mN-ON, Press this key to tell the Command Station that this locomotive is in the “normal”
direction relative to lead loco. Proceed on to the 3rd and last locomotive.
m1 to add the last locomotive
m2, m8, m4, m1, mENT
this is the 3rd locomotive's decoder address and it must be present
on the mainline and powered up. If not, it will not “hear" the
programming command.
mR-OFF, Press this key (found in the Accessories section of the
keyboard) to tell the Command Station that the locomotive is in
the “reversed” direction relative to lead loco.
mESC
This concludes the building of the consist. Press the ESC key to exit and return to the home page.
If these locomotives have not been previously used, the M count will have decreased to reflect
the new locomotives.
