Disabling a forgotten password
The software security features include a password and a setup password. The password jumper enables the password
features or disables them and clears any passwords currently in use.
CAUTION:
Dell
1. Turn off the , including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the from the electrical outlet.
2. Open the .
3. Move the jumper on the system board jumper from pins 4 and 6 to pins 2 and 4.
4. Close the .
The existing passwords are not disabled (erased) until the boots with the jumper on pins 2 and 4. However, before you
assign a new m and/or setup password, move the jumper back to pins 4 and 6.
NOTE: If you assign a new and/or setup password with the jumper on pins 2 and 4, the disables the new
passwords the next time it boots.
5. Reconnect the system board jumper to its electrical outlet and turn on the , including any attached peripherals.
6. Turn off the , including any attached peripherals, and disconnect the from the electrical outlet.
7. Open the .
8. Move the jumper on the system board jumper from pins 2 and 4 to pins 4 and 6.
9. Close the .
10. Reconnect the to its electrical outlet and turn on the , including any attached peripherals.
11. Assign a new and/or setup password.
