Removing the palm-rest and keyboard assembly
Prerequisites
1. Follow the procedure in Before working inside your computer.
2. Remove the base cover.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Remove the memory module.
5. Remove the hard-drive assembly.
6. Remove the solid-state drive/Intel Optane memory.
7. Remove the wireless card.
8. Remove the I/O board.
9. Remove the touchpad.
10. Remove the fan.
11. Remove the display assembly.
12. Remove the coin-cell battery.
13. Remove the speakers.
14. Remove the power-adapter port.
15. Remove the power-button board or the power-button with fingerprint reader.
16. Remove the system board.
NOTE:
The system board is removed and installed with the heat sink attached, when replacing the palm-rest and
keyboard assembly. This simplifies the procedure and avoids breaking the thermal bond between system board and
the heat sink.
