(5) Idle instability following engine start
Clogged air cleaner element
Description
Idle speed after starting the engine is abnormal.
Possible Cause
• Injector
• Supply pump
• Fuel filter
• Engine ECU
• Rail pressure sensor
1 Check each injector. (Refer to the injector check
procedure issued by the vehicle manufacturer.)
Repair or replace the injector and/or the corre-
sponding circuit.
2 Check the fuel filter. Replace the fuel filter.
3 Check the supply pump and the supply pump
drive circuit. (Refer to the supply pump drive cir-
cuit diagram issued by the vehicle manufac-
turer.)
Repair or replace the supply pump and drive cir-
cuit.
4 Check the rail pressure sensor and the corre-
sponding circuit. (Refer to the rail pressure sen-
sor check procedure issued by the vehicle
manufacturer.)
Repair or replace the rail pressure sensor and
the corresponding circuit.
