HD DVR RECEIVER USER GUIDE
You can use your HOME MEDIA CENTER HD DVR (models HR34
and above) in three ways:
1. As a standalone HD DVR
2. As an HD DVR in a Whole-Home DVR setup
3. As a HOME MEDIA CENTER (HMC) server connected to
RVU devices
In any configuration, your HMC HD DVR offers the following
features in addition to those of a DIRECTV HD DVR:
Record up to 5 programs simultaneously
Store up to 200 hours of HD programming
Watch two shows at the same time with Picture In Picture (on
the TV connected to the HMC HD DVR)
When connected to HD receivers as the hub of your Whole-Home
DVR experience, your HMC HD DVR will allow you to stream
recordings to three separate rooms, rather than only one when
using a DIRECTV HD DVR.
The DIRECTV HMC HD DVR can stream content and features to
RVU (remote viewing) capable TVs and other devices, giving you
full HD DVR functionality in every room. For example, if your HMC
HD DVR is connected to an HDTV in your Living Room, as well as
RVU-capable TVs in your Office, Bedroom and Kids’ Room, you
don’t need separate DIRECTV Receivers in these rooms: the RVU-
capable TVs let you watch, record and manage your shows directly
via the HMC HD DVR.
NOTE: For a complete list of compatible RVU devices, receivers
and required services, visit directv.com/hmc.
