Proper lubrication and maintenance protects Ditch Witch equipment from damage and failure. Service
intervals listed are for minimum requirements. In extreme conditions, service machine more frequently.
Use only recommended lubricants. Fill to capacities listed in “Fluid Capacities” on page 99.

Item Description
DEO Diesel engine oil meeting or exceeding the following standards of the American
Petroleum Institute or the European Automobile Manufacturers Association: API CI-4 or
ACEA E4/E7
See “Engine Oil Temperature Chart” on page 80 for recommended viscosity grade.
NOTICE: Do not use oils meeting API CJ-4, ACEA E6/E9, or other low-SAPS
equivalent.
MPG Multipurpose grease meeting NLGI GC-LB Grade 2
THF Tractor hydraulic fluid, similar to Phillips 66 HG, Mobilfluid 423, Chevron Tractor
Hydraulic Fluid, Texaco TDH Oil, or equivalent
DEAC Diesel engine antifreeze/coolant meeting ASTM D6210 (fully formulated) or D4985 (low
silicate)
Check level of fluid or lubricant

Change, replace, adjust, service or test
NOTICE:
• Use only genuine Ditch Witch parts, filters, approved lubricants, TJC, and approved coolants to
maintain warranty.
• Use the “Service Record” on page 105 to record all required service to your machine.
