( 3) An escutcheon near handwheel describes
relationship of washer to stop bol t in settings
of 20,000 psi (1406 kg per square cm ) and
30,000 psi (2109 kg per square cm ).
(4) Correct tension for the mach i ne 's 1-inch
(25 mm) wide by 0.035-inch (0.89 mm) gage
band is " 4" units as measured by a DoALL
Tensigage. See Fig . 11 .

CAUTION: Do not ''start'' machine unless the band
is properly tensioned.
BLADE GUARDS
For operator safety purposes, your machine has
the following blade guards:
(1) A guard covers the band between upper
drive and idler wheel doors.
(2) One lower guard covers band portion between
lower left wheel door and lower saw guide arm .

(3) A second lower guard covers band portion
between right saw guide arm and chip brush
cover on lower right door.
NOTE: All blade guards can be removed, If
necessary, during band changing
procedures.
BAND SPEED ADJUSTMENT
(1) Band speed is infinitely var i able between
105-275 fpm (32-85 m/min) by turning the hand-
wheel at machine 's ri ght side. Turn counte r-
clockwise to "increase" speed; clockwise to
" decrease " it. See Figs . 12 & 13.
