Overview

This document describes the DOLMAR PB-250 and PBV250 blower/vacuum, a professional-grade tool designed for a variety of applications. It combines state-of-the-art technology with ergonomic design, making it lightweight, handy, and compact.

Function Description:

The DOLMAR PB-250 and PBV250 are versatile outdoor power tools primarily designed for blowing and vacuuming leaves and other light debris. As a blower, it generates a powerful air stream to clear surfaces. When configured with the optional vacuum attachment, it can collect debris into a dust bag, making it suitable for tidying up gardens, pathways, and other outdoor areas. The device is powered by a high-efficiency two-stroke engine, requiring a specific fuel-oil mixture for operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

The manual provides detailed technical data for both models:

  • Dimensions (without blower pipe):
    • PB-250: 355 x 235 x 340 mm (length x width x height)
    • PBV250: 355 x 320 x 340 mm (length x width x height)
  • Mass (without blower pipes):
    • PB-250: 3.8 kg
    • PBV250: 4.0 kg
  • Engine Displacement: 24.5 cm³ for both models
  • Bore: 34 mm
  • Stroke: 27 mm
  • Volume (fuel tank): 530 cm³
  • Mixture ratio (Fuel : DOLMAR 2-stroke oil): 50:1 for both models
  • Carburetor: WALBRO WYL (diaphragm-carburetor)
  • Maximum engine speed: 7,000 rpm
  • Idling speed: 2,600 rpm
  • Ignition system: Solid state ignition (semiconductor ignition in French/German/Italian)
  • Spark plug: NGK BMR7A
  • Electrode gap: 0.6 – 0.7 mm

Usage Features:

The DOLMAR blower/vacuum is designed for ease of use and safety, with several features to ensure efficient operation:

  • Assembly: The blower pipes are easily attached by aligning grooves with pins and twisting to lock. For vacuuming, an optional attachment can be installed, which involves securing a handle and then attaching the vacuum pipe and dust bag. The manual emphasizes ensuring all components are fully assembled before starting the engine.
  • Starting: The device uses a two-stroke engine with a primer pump and choke lever. For a cold start or after refueling, the user must push the I-O switch to "I", press the primer pump 7-10 times until fuel is visible, close the choke lever fully (H position), and then lock the throttle lever in the "start-up" position by squeezing it fully, pressing the lock button, and releasing the throttle while holding the button. The blower is then placed on the ground, held with one hand, and started by pulling the starter knob with the other. Once started, the choke lever is gradually opened to the || position, and the throttle lever is fully released. For immediate restarts, the process is similar but typically requires less priming and the choke lever is opened directly to the || position.
  • Stopping: To stop the engine, the throttle lever is fully released, and once the engine RPM has lowered, the I-O switch is pushed to the "O" position.
  • Fueling: The engine requires a 50:1 mixture of unleaded regular fuel (min. 91 RON octane) and DOLMAR 2-stroke engine oil (TC-3 quality grade). The manual provides clear instructions for mixing fuel and oil in an approved container, emphasizing not to overfill the tank and to clean the area around the gas cap to prevent contamination. Refueling should always be done in a well-ventilated area, away from open flames, and with the engine stopped and cooled down.
  • Safety: The manual stresses the importance of reading and understanding all safety instructions. Users must wear personal protective equipment, including sturdy, snug-fitting clothing, hearing protection (ear plugs or earmuffs), eye protection (goggles or safety glasses), and protective gloves. Good footing and sturdy, non-slip shoes are also essential. The operating area should be clear of children, pets, and other people (within a 15-meter radius). The blower should never be operated under the influence of alcohol or drugs, when tired, or in enclosed spaces due to exhaust fumes. The air stream should not be directed at people or animals.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the DOLMAR blower/vacuum.

  • Daily Checkup and Maintenance: Before each operation, users should check for loose screws or missing parts, and ensure the cooling air passage and cylinder fins are not clogged. After use, the blower should be cleaned externally, inspected for damage, and the air filter cleaned. For dusty conditions, the air filter, cooling air passage, and cylinder fins should be cleaned multiple times a day. The I-O switch, throttle lever, and lock button should also be checked for proper functioning.
  • Cleaning the Air Cleaner: This involves removing the air cleaner cover, pushing the choke lever to the H position to prevent dirt from entering the carburetor, taking out the sponge element, washing it in lukewarm water, drying it completely, and then reassembling. A clogged air cleaner can make starting difficult and increase engine rotational speed.
  • Checking the Spark Plugs: Only the provided socket wrench should be used. The electrode gap should be 0.6-0.7 mm; if it's outside this range, it should be adjusted. Carbon-fouled or dirty spark plugs should be thoroughly cleaned or replaced. Users are warned not to touch the spark plug connector while the engine is running due to the risk of electric shock.
  • Cleaning the Muffler Exhaust Port: The muffler exhaust port (1) should be regularly checked. If it's clogged with carbon deposits, these should be carefully scraped away with a suitable tool.
  • Idle Adjustment: If the engine stops while idling, the idle adjusting screw (1) should be turned clockwise until the engine runs smoothly.
  • Storage: For long-term storage, the fuel should be drained from the fuel tank and carburetor. This involves emptying the tank and repeatedly pressing the primer pump until all fuel is expelled. A few drops of oil should be put into the spark plug hole, and the starter gently pulled to ensure the engine interior is coated with an oil film before re-installing the spark plugs. The exterior of the blower should be cleaned and stored in a dry, well-ventilated, locked area, away from open flames.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide to help users diagnose and resolve common issues related to starting, running, and performance. Any maintenance or adjustment work not covered in the manual should be performed by an Authorized Service Agent, and only genuine DOLMAR spare parts and accessories should be used to ensure safety and performance.
