Why is my DR Trimmer engine smoking?
    • R
      Raymond HuangAug 29, 2025
Your DR Trimmer engine may be smoking due to several reasons. Check the oil level and adjust if necessary. You might be operating the machine on too steep of an incline. Inspect the air filter and clean or replace it if needed. Ensure you are using the correct oil weight for the temperature. Also, clean the engine cooling fins and carburetor housing if they are dirty.

How to fix a DR Trimmer recoil that is hard to pull?
    • D
      Denise HernandezAug 29, 2025
If the recoil on your DR Trimmer is difficult to pull, start by checking the engine oil level, as the engine may be seized. There could also be an oil compression lock in the cylinder. Remove the spark plug, cover the spark plug hole with a rag, and pull the recoil cord several times to clear any oil. Wipe off the spark plug and reinstall it. The recoil itself might be broken or jammed. With the spark plug wire off, try turning the engine pulley by hand. If it turns, the recoil is likely broken or jammed.

Why is my DR Lawn Mower engine smoking?
    • C
      Carol FarrellAug 30, 2025
Your DR Lawn Mower engine might be smoking because you are operating the machine on too great an incline. You may be using the wrong oil—too light for the temperature. Refer to your Engine Owner’s Manual for detailed information. Check the air filter(s) and clean or replace if needed.

What to do if blades vibrate when engaged on my DR Lawn Mower?
    • A
      Anthony CarterAug 31, 2025
If the blades vibrate when engaged on your DR Lawn Mower, the blade carrier mounting bolt may not be tight enough. Tighten the bolt as tight as possible by hand with at least a 1ft long 1-1/8" wrench. A swinging blade may be too loose on the blade carrier, so re-tighten the swinging blade mounting hardware.

Why won't the blades engage on my DR Lawn Mower?
    • R
      Richard MooreAug 31, 2025
The blades on your DR Lawn Mower may not engage due to a faulty blade control switch, so remove and replace the switch on the remote control. A low or weak battery may cause electric clutch to not engage, so check battery for sufficient voltage.

How to fix excessive engine stalling on my DR Lawn Mower?
    • E
      Elaine Smith DDSSep 1, 2025
If your DR Lawn Mower experiences excessive engine stalling, raise the cutting height and drive slower when cutting because the brush or grass is too heavy at the current cutting height or at the current Tow Vehicle speed.

Why won't my DR Lawn Mower engine start?
    • J
      Jennifer WeeksAug 25, 2025
There are several reasons why your DR Lawn Mower engine might not start. The gas may not be fresh or clean, so replace it, using a fuel stabilizer if you keep gas longer than one month. The spark plug(s) could be dirty or cracked, so replace it. If the spark plug(s) is oily, remove it, hold a rag over the plug hole(s) and crank the engine over a couple of times using the electric starter to blow out any oil in the cylinder(s), then wipe off the plug(s) and reinsert it. The air filter might be dirty, so change it following the procedure in the Engine Owner’s Manual. Check the fuses in the wiring harness and replace if needed. The battery may not be charged, so check the voltage and charge it with a 12-volt, 1 to 2-amp trickle charger if it is low.

How to fix a DR Lawn and Garden Equipment recoil that is hard to pull?
    • L
      Larry GraySep 2, 2025
If the recoil on your DR Lawn and Garden Equipment is difficult to pull, the engine oil level may need checking, as the engine might be seized. Alternatively, there could be an oil compression lock in the cylinder; remove the spark plug, cover the spark plug hole with a rag, and pull the recoil cord several times to clear any oil, then wipe and reinstall the spark plug. It's also possible the recoil is broken or jammed; with the spark plug wire off, try turning the engine pulley by hand. If it turns, the recoil is likely broken or jammed.

How to start DR PRO-XL Other if engine won't start?
    • M
      Mary JordanSep 3, 2025
If the engine of your DR Other won't start, several things could be the issue. First, check the spark plug wire to ensure it's properly attached. Next, inspect the wire connections, paying special attention to the ground connection, specifically the large green wire from the battery connecting to the engine. Ensure the battery is fully charged. The air filter might be dirty, so replace it following the instructions in the Engine Owner’s Manual. Old gas can also prevent starting, so replace it if needed. Finally, the spark plug may be dirty or cracked, so replace it if necessary.

What to do if DR PRO-XL engine runs but rotor doesn’t rotate?
    • G
      Gregory WilliamsSep 3, 2025
If your DR Other engine is running, but the rotor isn’t rotating, make sure the throttle lever is all the way to the left in the FAST position to engage the clutch. Also, check the drive belts; they may be loose, off, or broken. Remove any built-up debris from the DR PRO-XL CHIPPER-SHREDDER Hopper Inlet(s) and Discharge Chute. Finally, the inner shoes of the clutch may be worn, and/or the clutch shoe retaining springs may be weak or broken.
