1 Set switch for ventilation modes to »SIMV/CPAP«.
Adjust pattern of mandatory ventilator breaths by setting:
2 knobs »VT« and »Rate«.
NOTE: Preferred rates are less than 10 bpm. This will
allow the patient sufficient time for spontaneous
breathing.
3 Display:
if the rate had been set lower than 18.5 bpm, or
if the rate had been set higher than 18.5 bpm.
To clear the display:
4 Press »g Reset«.
The following message appears if the expiratory
minute ventilation is less than 1 L/min:
NOTE: Pure oxygen is supplied during spontaneous
breathing, even when the ventilator is set to »Air Mix« .
1 Reduce the ventilation frequency via the »Rate« knob
when spontaneous breathing resumes.
NOTE: At rate settings lower than 5 bpm, the ventilator
will switch to CPAP.
2 Use »PEEP« knob to set the positive airway pressure.
