Troubleshooting

Problem / Message Likely Cause Remedy
Main power down
Alarm status light blinking,
intermittent audible alarm.
Plug connection to external power
supply does not make contact.
Power supply unit or DC/DC
converter defective.
Check plug connection or replace
power supply unit or DC/DC
converter.
Press »g Reset« to confirm.
Ventilator continues operation with
internal power supply.
NiCd discharged
Alarm status light blinking,
intermittent audible alarm, ventilation
stops.
NiCd battery pack discharged, no
external power supply.
Replace NiCd battery pack or
connect power supply.
No NiCd charge
NOTE: This message appears
only in standby mode.
NiCd battery pack not installed, or
alkaline battery pack installed, or
ambient temperature outside range
0 to 35 °C when charging the
internal NiCd battery pack, or
internal fuse defective.
Charge NiCd battery pack at ambient
temperatures between 0 and 35 °C.
No NiCd or bat. Ventilator connected to external
power supply, internal power supply
not available.
Install fully charged NiCd or new
alkaline battery pack.
Paw high
Alarm status light blinking,
intermittent audible alarm.
The minute ventilation cannot
be fully applied.
Single beep
Airway stenosis.
Ventilator circuit kinked.
Reduced lung compliance.
Inspiratory flow resulting from the
setting for VT, Rate and I:E too high.
Patient "fighting" the ventilator.
80 cmH2O set – for cardio-
pulmonary resuscitation.
Clear airways.
Ensure patient circuit is not kinked.
Set higher Pmax value. Set a longer
inspiration time (smaller flow) with the
»I:E« knob.
Change ventilation pattern or
ventilation mode. Sedate patient if
necessary.
No remedy required.
Paw low
Alarm status light blinking,
intermittent audible alarm.
Disconnection / leakage in patient
connection, patient valve or
ventilation circuit.
Diaphragm incorrectly installed in
patient valve or damaged.
Leak in cuff.
Verify that connections are tight.
Install diaphragm correctly or replace.
Inflate cuff and check for leaks.
