Charging the battery (fig. 32)
Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from
the motorcycle.
Remove the r.h. body panel (page 40), undo the screw (1)
and remove the upper bracket.
Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first,
and then the red positive terminal (+).
Warning
Batteries develop explosive gases: keep it away
from heat sources and flames.
Charge the battery in a ventilated room.
Connect the battery charger leads to the battery
terminals - red to positive terminal (+), black to negative
terminal (-).
Important
Make sure the charger is off when you connect the
battery to it, or you might get sparks at the battery
terminals that could ignite the gases inside the cells.
Always connect the positive terminal (red) first (+).
Refit the battery on its mount and secure the top bracket
with screw (1). Connect the terminals. Grease the
terminal screws to improve conductivity.

Warning
Keep the battery out of the reach of children.
If battery is not charged, it is subjected to early wear.
Charge the battery at 1.5 A.
