6 UPSmaintenance
6.1 Equipmentcare
Forthebestprevenvemaintenance,keeptheareaaroundtheequipmentclean
and dust free. If the atmosphere is very dusty, clean the outside of the system with
a vacuum cleaner.
Forfullbaerylife,keeptheequipmentatanambienttemperatureof25°C(77°F).
Thebaeriesareratedfora3-5yearservicelife.Thelengthofservicelifevaries,
dependingonthefrequencyofusageandambienttemperature(lifedividedby2
each10°Cabove25°C).
IftheUPSrequiresanytypeoftransportaon,verifythattheUPSisturnedo.
Baeriesusedbeyondexpectedservicelifewilloenhaveseverelyreducedrun-
mes.Replacebaeriesatleastevery4yearstokeepunitsrunningatpeakper-
formance.
Baeriesrunmewillbereducedatlowtemperature(below10°C).
6.2 Storingtheequipment
Ifyoustoretheequipmentforalongperiod,rechargethebaeryevery6months
byconnecngtheUPStoulitypower.Theinternalbaerieschargeto90%capac-
ityinlessthan3hours.However,Eatonrecommendsthatthebaerieschargefor
48hoursaerlong-termstorage.
Check the baery recharge date on the shipping carton label. If the date has
passedandthebaerieswerenever
recharged,donotusethem.Contactyourservicerepresentave.
6.3 Recyclingtheusedequipment
Contactyourlocalrecyclingorhazardouswastecenterforinformaononproper
disposaloftheusedequipment.eaton.com/recycling
Donotdisposethebaeryorbaeriesinare.Baeriesmayexplode.
Properdisposalofbaeriesisrequired.Refertoyourlocalcodesfor
disposalrequirements.
Donotopenormulatethebaeryorbaeries.Releasedelectrolyteis
harmful to the skin and eyes. It may be toxic. Do not discard the UPS or
