Position wiring safely to prevent snagging, separation of connectors,
or breakage during operation. Gather excess wire, and secure with
wiring clamp if provided on equipment.
Check wiring and connectors for nicks, cuts, exposed wire, or
other damage, and repair or replace as needed. Exposed wire or
connectors can cause shocks, sparks, and risk of re or explosion,
resulting in serious injury.
Check wire terminals for secure connections.
General Safety Warnings and Instructions for the
following ECHO tools: Curved Shaft Edger, Straight
Shaft Edger, Tiller Cultivator, or Pole Pruner, or DPAS
unit congured as a Curved Shaft Edger, Straight Shaft
Edger, Tiller Cultivator, or Pole Pruner.
This section contains the prescribed general safety warnings and instructions
for handheld, motor-operated electric trimmers, lawn edgers, cultivators,
brushcutters, and pole pruners contained in UL 82. Additional important
warnings and instructions are provided in subsequent sections of this manual.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electric trimmers, lawn edgers, cultivators, and pole
pruners basic safety precautions should always be followed
to reduce the risk of re, electric shock, and personal injury,
including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Avoid Dangerous Environment - Don't use appliances in damp or wet
locations.
2. Don't Use in Rain.
3. Keep Children Away - All visitors should be kept at a distance from work
area.
4. Dress Properly - Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be
caught in moving parts. Use of rubber gloves and substantial footwear is
recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to
contain long hair.
5. Use Safety Glasses - Always use face or dust mask if operation is dusty.
6. Use Right Tool - Do not use tool for any job except that for which it is
intended.
